Artist Statement
Our process piece is about someone making bread.  The reason we chose to do this process is because while it may be a simple thing to do, there are many interesting sounds within the preparing and cooking process. Also, we included in this process the grinding of the wheat because that is not necessarily a common part of people making bread today. Also, the bread was made in a bread machine, which provided interesting sounds. So, overall the sounds heard in our piece are first the grinding of the wheat, second the measuring of ingredients by hand, the bread being kneaded in the bread machine, and lastly the bread being cut.
We wanted to have a quick, fast paced piece that did not have any dead space during the process.  Some of that influence came from hip hop music where there never seems to be any breaks or pauses. There is always a constant beat of the baker making this bread as each step moves to the next. Also, we selected quick dynamic sounds from the process to accentuate this style.

The viewing from class which most influenced our piece where the videos on routining.com. This websites use of hip-hop editing and stop action flare was another influence to our hi hop style choice.
